Urban Hike Visits CarnegieA group of about two dozen people from all over the area descended on Carnegie at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1. The group is "Urban Hike", an organization that explores urban and suburban neighborhoods, viewing and visiting the sites. Who needs a trail? We're interesting enough already.
A three-hour tour up and down hills and back and forth across town to see as much of Carnegie as they could see on one beautiful Saturday morning--and see it we did! Urban Hikes are an interesting concept for those who don't care to be, or who don't have the time to be, too far away from civilization. It's also a great way to get urban and suburban communities in touch with each other, and it may not be a bad idea for some of us to show off our towns to each other. Looking for the white dots in the map above (or the larger view available), you can see that we marched over hill and dale--if you know Carnegie's hills, this was quite a hike! Up to the top of Cubbage Hill, criss-crossing town to Carnegie Park, then back to Library Avenue and back to the Historical Society on Main Street.
